tableware:
The ware is slip cast porcelain fired in cone 6 oxidation and is microwave and dishwasher safe. Plaster molds are handmade from found (typically plastic) mass produced forms that are subtly altered for desired characteristics and reminiscent of and inspired by the Corelle glass dinnerware forms that I grew up with in our kitchen.
Pierced holes filled with glaze reference Chinese Linglong porcelain of the Ming & Qing Dynasties and Iranian Fritware.
The use of colored porcelain is reminiscent of the colored earthenware clays seen in historical Wedgwood pieces.
Only the interior is glazed with a glossy glaze while the matte porcelain exterior is sanded to a smooth, silky surface. Each piece is hand made.

The Light Collection
In thinking about light & windows, more specifically stained glass windows, this series of cups and bowls quietly celebrates the materials’ differences and offers the user a unique perspective inspired by a kaleidoscope. The translucency of small glaze inlay dots contrasted with the matte porcelain reminiscent of polished stone is explored in simple, everyday utilitarian objects that fulfill our need for survival and make us more aware of ourselves and our surroundings. The Light Collection celebrates porcelain’s natural translucency.
The Color Collection
The porcelain casting slips are colored and therefore become opaque. Holes are pierced through the piece and filled with either a different colored slip or, like the Light Collection, a transparent glaze that lets light pass through. A gradation of each color is available which allows for individual mixing and matching of different colored pieces to create your own personal collection.
